One day a friend came over to my house and saw one of the cakes I was working on and she stated that she really wanted a monkey cake that is holding coconuts and says "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts." I don't think that she thought I was listening, however when her birthday came around and another friend decided to have a surprise dinner for her and her closest 50 friends, I knew exactly what kind of cake she needed. This cake is completely edible! The base of the cake is chocolate covered in marhmallow fondant.
The monkey is pound cake covered with mostly chocolate buttercream. The coconuts and bananas are marshmallow fondant, totally edible and tasty. And YES, our monkey has a cake tail.
